Not yet 18, Han-Na-Chang of Korea was already internationally renowned as a world-class cello virtuoso six years ago. The maturing prodigy will be the star soloist when she joins the Orchestre National de Lyon, who are visiting from France to perform three pieces by French composers. The programme calls for Debussy’s ‘Afternoon of a Faun’, followed by Saint-Saens’ Cello Concerto No. 1 and Symphony in D Minor by Franck. David Robertson is the conductor.

Opened in February 1999 following a classic Vegas celebrity shindig, the museum features the largest collection of Nevada gaming memorabilia ever assembled. More than 738 casinos are represented, 550 of which have succumbed to the wrecking ball. New to the collection is the flared gabardine ‘Peacock’ jump-suit worn by Vegas-icon Elvis Presley during his 1974-1975 performances, said to be worth $139,000.

Located next to the zoo, behind the Hotel Arts and the Olympic village, the balloon is permanently tethered to the ground and rises up some 150 metres, providing spectacular views of the city and sea. The ride lasts about 15 minutes and the large, open-air cabin is entirely safe and child-proof. Kids aged 6 and under get to ride for free.
